| Our Taneycomo Drift Rig is easy to build. We
use 4-pound, green line.... very important that's it's green line- it disappears
in LT's water better than clear or any other type of line. Most use
bell weights- #9 or 3/8 oz is the most popular. But for the best
drift, we use slinky weights. These are parachute cord with
split shot slid in the middle and both end burned shut. This type
of weight will not get snagged on the bottm as much as regular split shot
or bell weights. They are kinda hard to find though.
This technique is one of the best used because it allows the weight to drag the bottom while the bait or lure hangs above the bottom. Never use a sinking lure or it defeats the purpose. You will lose alot of rigs unfortunately because of the debrey on the bottom of the lake such as trees and big rocks. But to be the most affective in catching trout, you must be close if not on the bottom. |
